Section 100.1
SPN 2798/FMI 3

This diagnosis is typically injector control valve cylinder #4, 5, or 6 circuit has a short to battery/power.‪

Section 100.1.1
Short to Battery/Power Check

Check as follows:‪

  1. Disconnect the 12–pin injector valve cover harness connector.
  2. Turn the ignition ON (key ON, engine OFF).
  3. Measure the voltage between pin 7 on the engine side of the valve cover injector harness connector and ground.
    1. If voltage is present, repair the short to power between pin 7 of the valve cover injector harness connector and pin 16 of the MCM 120–pin connector. Refer to "100.4.1.1 Verify Repairs" .
    2. If no voltage is present, go to the next step.
  4. Measure the voltage between pin 9 on the engine side of the valve cover injector harness connector and ground.
    1. If voltage is present, repair the short to power between pin 9 on the engine side of the valve cover injector harness connector and pin 20 of the MCM 120–pin connector. See Figure "Injectors #4, 5, 6" . Refer to "100.4.1.1 Verify Repairs" .
    2. If no voltage is present, go to the next step.
    3. Click to see this graphic in a separate window

  5. Measure the voltage between pin 11 on the engine side of the valve cover injector harness connector and ground.
    1. If voltage is present, repair the short to power between pin 11 on the engine side of the valve cover injector harness connector and pin 18 of the MCM 120–pin connector. See Figure "Injectors #4, 5, 6" . Refer to "100.4.1.1 Verify Repairs" .
    2. If no voltage is present, replace the under valve cover injector harness. Refer to "100.4.1.1 Verify Repairs" .
