Series 60 – Section 12.5 Operating Conditions

Section 12.5
Operating Conditions

The operating limits for the Series 60 diesel engine are listed in Table "Series 60 Engine Lubrication System Parameters" , and listed in Table "Series 60 Engine Air System, Fuel System, and Cooling System Parameters" . Any variations from the conditions as listed may indicate an abnormal situation in need of correction. Be sure that the readings represent true values and the instruments are accurate before attempting to make corrections to the engine. This data represents rated conditions. Actual data may be influenced by environmental conditions.‪

Table 2. Series 60 Engine Air System, Fuel System, and Cooling System Parameters

* Exhaust systems should provide a maximum of 3.0” Hg during normal service. This applies to exhaust system devices having mufflers and diesel oxidation catalysts. Particulate filter engines may operate above 3.0” Hg specification as long as they do not exceed established protection alarm limits.

  1. I am working on a 60 series Detroit in a Freightliner don’t know the year but the engine shuts off when temperatures are at 200degrees in the oil gauge and the water temperature is 175 degrees And I replace the thermostats in the antifreeze .My question is the problem with the oil cooler now or something else
