Air Conditioner Compressor and Mounting Bracket
The air conditioner compressor is mounted to the front of the engine and pulley driven from the fan clutch.
For air conditioner compressor service recommendations, refer to OEM guidelines.
Section 10.2.1
Repair or Replacement of Air Conditioner Compressorand Mounting Bracket
Perform the following procedure to determine if repair is possible or replacement is necessary.

Section 10.2.2
Removal of Air Conditioner Compressor and Mounting Bracket
Remove the air conditioner compressor and mounting bracket as follows:
- Remove the four bolts that extend through the top compressor mounting bracket into the compressor housing. See Figure "Removal of Air Conditioner Compressor and Mounting Bracket " .
- Remove the two bolts that retain the top compressor mounting bracket to the L-bracket, and remove the bracket.
- Remove the four bolts that retain the compressor to the L-bracket, and remove the air conditioner compressor.

Section 10.2.2.1
Inspection of Air Conditioner Compressor and Mounting Bracket
Inspect the air conditioner compressor and mounting bracket as follows:
- Inspect the compressor housing for obvious signs of external damage.
- If the housing has been damaged, replace the compressor.
- Examine the mounting brackets for cracks.
- If the top mounting bracket is cracked, replace it.
Section 10.2.3
Installation of Air Conditioner Compressor and Mounting Bracket
Install the drive gear and bearing as follows:
- Hold the compressor in place on the bottom bracket, and install the four bolts into the compressor housing.
- Torque the bolts to 58 N · m (43 lb · ft).
- Bolt the top compressor bracket to block.
- Torque the bolts to 58 N · m (43 lb · ft).
- Install the four bolts through the top compressor bracket into the compressor housing.
- Torque the bolts to 58 N · m (43 lb · ft).
