Engine Speed Sensor
The Engine Speed Sensor is an electronic component which sends a signal to the ECM and is mounted to the right side of the flywheel housing. See Figure "Engine Speed Sensor Location" .

Section 2.6.1
Replacement of Engine Speed Sensor
To determine if replacement of the engine speed sensor is necessary, perform the following procedure. See Figure "Flowchart for Replacement of Engine Speed Sensor" .
Note: The engine speed sensor is a non-serviceable component and is replaced as a unit. No adjustment is required.

Section 2.6.2
Removal of Engine Speed Sensor
Remove the engine speed sensor as follows:
- Disconnect the engine speed sensor electrical harness connector from the engine speed sensor. See Figure
"Engine Speed Sensor Harness Removal"

- Remove mounting bolt.
- Remove engine speed sensor from flywheel housing.
Section 2.6.2.1
Inspection of Engine Speed Sensor
Inspect engine speed sensor as follows:
- Visually inspect the engine speed sensor for damage.
- If damage is found, replace the engine speed sensor. Refer to "2.6.3 Installation of Engine Speed Sensor" .
- If no damage is found, reuse the engine speed sensor. Refer to "2.6.3 Installation of Engine Speed Sensor" .
Section 2.6.3
Installation of Engine Speed Sensor
Install engine speed sensor as follows:
- Install the engine speed sensor to the flywheel housing with the retaining bolt.
- Connect the engine speed sensor electrical harness.
- Run the engine to verify repair.
