EGR Rotary Valve Removal
Remove the EGR rotary valve as follows (see Figure "Exploded view of Rotary (EGR) Valve" for component locations):

PERSONAL INJURY |
To avoid injury from scalding, drain the radiator when the engine and coolant are cool. |
- Drain engine coolant.
- Remove EGR cooler. Refer to "10.5.1 EGR Cooler Removal" .
- Remove five nuts from EGR rotary valve and remove from EGR cooler. Discard gasket. See Figure
"Exploded view of Rotary (EGR) Valve"
.
Note: The EGR rotary valve is not serviced and must be replaced as an assembly.
Section 10.6.2
EGR Rotary Valve Installation
Install the EGR rotary valve as follows (see Figure "Exploded view of Rotary (EGR) Valve" for component locations):
- Using a new gasket, install the EGR valve to the cooler using the five nuts. Tighten nuts to 31-35 N·m (23-26 lb·ft).
- Install EGR cooler. Refer to "10.5.2 EGR Cooler Installation" .
- Fill engine with fresh coolant to required level.
- Test engine for leaks. Refer to "10.5.2.1 Testing Engine for Leaks" .
