Crankshaft Gear
Section 1.7.1
Crankshaft Gear Removal
Remove the crankshaft gear as follows:
- To remove the crankshaft gear, first remove the engine.
BODILY INJURY
To avoid injury from a falling component, ensure a proper lifting device is used. Never stand beneath a suspended load.
- Remove the flywheel housing. See Figure
"Crankshaft Gear Removal"
and refer to "1.14.1 Flywheel Housing Removal"

- Rotate the crankshaft until the "1" on the crankshaft gear is lined between the "1-1" mark on the camshaft gear. See Figure
"Aligning the Camshaft and Crankshaft Gear Marks"

- Pull the crankshaft gear off the end of the crankshaft.
Section 1.7.2
Crankshaft Gear Installation
Install the crankshaft gear as follows:
- Line up the keyway in the crankshaft gear with the key on the end of the crankshaft. Make sure the "1" mark on the crankshaft gear is between the "1-1" mark on the camshaft gear. See Figure

- Install the flywheel housing. Refer to "1.14.2 Flywheel Housing Installation" .
- Install the engine.
