Maintenance of Vehicle Engines

Vehicle engine components must be maintained at various intervals.‪

Section 13.3.1
6,000 Miles (10,000 km) Interval Maintenance (City Coach Only)

The oil must be changed on a City Coach Engine.‪

Every 6,000 miles (10,000 km), the following components must be lubricated;‪

• Fan hub bearings, refer to "13.5.23 Fan Hub"
• Idler pulley bearings, refer to "13.5.23 Fan Hub"

  Note: If grease fittings are installed on the fan hub and the idler pulley support, the fan hub bearings and fan belt idler pulley bearings must be lubricated.

7,500 Miles (12,000 km) Interval Maintenance

Every 7,500 miles (12,000 km), the following components must be inspected, serviced, corrected or replaced as necessary. ‪

• Battery, refer to "13.5.6 Battery"
• Drive belts, refer to "13.5.7 Drive Belts"
• Air compressor, refer to "13.5.8 Air Compressor"

12,000 Miles (19,000 km) Interval Maintenance (City Coach Only)

The oil must be changed on a City Coach Engine.‪

Every 12,000 miles (19,000 km), the following components must be lubricated;‪

• Idler pulley bearings, refer to "13.5.23 Fan Hub"

  Note: If grease fittings are installed on the fan hub and the idler pulley support, the fan hub bearings and fan belt idler pulley bearings must be lubricated.

Every 150,000 miles (241,000 km) or 60 months, the following components must be inspected, serviced, corrected or replaced as necessary.‪

• Fuel tank, refer to "13.5.2 Fuel Tanks"
• Drive belts, refer to "13.5.7 Drive Belts"
• Air compressor, refer to "13.5.8 Air Compressor"
• Air system, refer to "13.5.15 Air System"
• Exhaust system, refer to "13.5.16 Exhaust System"
• Engine (steam clean), refer to "13.5.17 Engine (Steam Clean)"
• Radiator and air-to-air charge cooler, refer to "13.5.18 Radiator"
• Battery charging alternator, refer to "13.5.20 Battery Charging Alternator"

Likewise, the following components must be replaced every 150,000 miles (241,000 km) or 60 months.‪

• Lubricating oil, refer to "13.5.1 Lubricating Oil"
• Lubricating oil filter, refer to "13.5.10 Lubricating Oil Filter"
• Fuel filter, refer to "13.5.11 Fuel Filters"
• Coolant filter and inhibitor, refer to "13.5.12 Coolant Filter and Water Pump"
• Fan hub bearings, refer to "13.5.23 Fan Hub"
• Idler pulley bearings, refer to "13.5.23 Fan Hub"
