Series 50 – Section 15.1 Overview of Ignition System

Section 15.1
Overview of Ignition System

The Series 50G engine uses a distributorless ignition system (DIS) to initiate combustion and to control combustion timing. The ECM controls dwell time as a function of supply voltage and ignition timing for all speeds and load conditions. The spark event is controlled based on a magnetic pick-up on the crankshaft so it is not necessary to adjust ignition timing.‪
