Exterior Oil Line
The exterior oil line allows the proper lubrication of the rocker arms. Oil flows from the number six crankshaft carrier adaptor up through the line to each cylinder head and returns through the cylinder block.
Section 3.4.1
Replacement of Exterior Oil Line
To determine if replacement of the exterior oil line is necessary, perform the following procedure. See Figure "Flowchart for Replacement of Exterior Oil Line" .

Section 3.4.2
Removal of Exterior Oil Line
Remove the exterior oil line as follows:
- Remove banjo bolt and two washers from the number six crankshaft carrier adaptor. See Figure
"Removal of Exterior Oil Line"

- Remove six banjo bolts and two washers from the cylinder block. See Figure "Removal of Exterior Oil Line" .
- Remove the exterior oil line from the cylinder heads.
Section 3.4.3
Cleaning of Exterior Oil Line
Clean the exterior oil line as follows:
- Clean the exterior oil line and related parts with clean fuel oil.
To avoid personal injury when blow drying, wear adequate eye protection (safety glasses or face plate) and do not exceed 276 kPa (40 lb/in. 2 ) air pressure.
- Dry the exterior oil line and related parts with compressed air.
Section 3.4.3.1
Inspection of Exterior Oil Line
Inspect the exterior oil line as follows:
- Visually check the exterior oil line for cracks, dents, or kinks.
- If the exterior oil line has any cracks, dents, or kinks, replace the component. Refer to "3.4.4 Installation of Exterior Oil Line" .
- If the exterior oil line has no cracks, dents, or kinks, reuse the component. Refer to "3.4.4 Installation of Exterior Oil Line" .
Section 3.4.4
Installation of Exterior Oil Line
Install the exterior oil line as follows:
- Place the exterior oil line onto the cylinder head and secure with six banjo bolts. Torque banjo bolts to 12.7 N·m (9.3 lb·ft). See Figure
"Installation of Exterior Oil Line"

- Secure the exterior oil line to the number six crankshaft carrier adaptor with a banjo bolt. Torque banjo bolt to 12.7 N·m (9.3 lb·ft).
- Run engine to verify repairs.
