The following procedures will troubleshoot Flash Code 52, SID 254/FMI 12.‪

Section 54.2.1
Multiple Code Check

Perform the following steps to check for multiple codes.‪

1. Turn vehicle ignition switch ON.
2. Plug in the diagnostic tool.
3. Read active codes.
   1. If active codes other than s 254/12 are logged, service them first.
   2. If active code s 254/12 is logged, and no other codes are logged, hook up test ECM/ECU. If code clears, replace the ECM/ECU. If code is not cleared, contact Detroit Diesel Customer Support Center (313–592–5800).

   Note: For information concerning ECM/ECU replacement, refer to section 2.9 in the service manual.
